Seattle – Anjani Phuyal, Chief Executive Officer of Genese Solution – a UK-based value IT consulting and cybersecurity company, has said that bridging digital divide is key to empower youth in developing countries like Nepal.

Making a presentation on the theme “Empowering Remote Hills in Nepal: Sustainable Livelihoods through AWS Skills” at the AWS Ambassador Global Summit, Mr Phuyal, who was top  AWS Ambassador (2024) for the UK and Ireland, said that  by envisioning a digitally sovereign Nepal where rural youth can learn, earn and lead reduce economic migration will help create jobs locally and also help stop the youth exodus.

Saying that nearly 1,700 youths leave Nepal daily every day in search of looking for jobs, he highlighted Genese Solution’s ongoing efforts in Nepal’s remote districts where the company has already trained over 300 young people in cloud computing and cyber security. Phuyal shared how Genese Solution has been training local youth in Bhojpur, Surkhet and other districts of Nepal with a view to train, equip and encourage youth to work from where they are based.

“We’ve established five community tech labs and are now active in 12 districts across five provinces, with nearly a dozen public-private partners already engaged,” he added.

“We have already established 5 community tech labs and trained over 300 youths in cloud and cybersecurity.  We are working in 12 districts across five provinces and  already have nearly a dozen  public-private partners on board,” said Phuyal adding, “global tech must meet local reality.”

Explaining how it’s becoming possible, Mr Phuyal said that there was no digital infrastructure and local youths had no prior exposure to cloud or coding.

“Students had never used AWS or worked in a tech lab before. We ran an immersive cloud bootcamp with 25 students,” said Mr Phuyal adding, “All 25 have completed the program and many are now interning with Genese. Schools and parents are now demanding expansion to nearby wards.”

“We want to build a future where youth drive Nepal’s tech economy,” said Mr Phuyal. He also invited the global tech community to join forces in training and empowering Nepali youth.

Genese Solution currently operates in 10 countries, including the UK, Nepal, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and the US, providing scalable digital transformation, cloud, and cybersecurity services for both public and private sector clients.
