Nepali Delegation Addresses Students at the University of East London

London- Nepali representatives participated in a panel discussion titled “CSR, Sustainability, and Global Labour Standards in IHRM Contexts” held at the University of East London, London.
The session brought together academics and professionals to explore key issues in management, including sustainability, global labour standards, and diversity across sectors. Discussions also highlighted the similarities and differences between the hospitality and infrastructure development industries.
Among the speakers was Engineer Subodh Timilsina, owner of PMPS Consulting, trustee of Subodh Foundation UK, and Chairperson of SONEUK. He shared insights from his professional journey, including both successes and challenges, and encouraged students to pursue paths that align with their personal values rather than focusing solely on financial gain.

Ajeena Timilsina, who is involved in PMPS Consulting and serves as a trustee of Subodh Foundation UK, spoke about the challenges faced in infrastructure development and policy-related work. She also outlined the future expansion plans of PMPS Consulting in Nepal. Both Subodh Timilsina and Ajeena Timilsina emphasised that strong and continuous communication between students, organisations, and support networks is essential to address ongoing challenges.
Interaction with Nepali Students
Following the panel discussion, Engineer Subodh Timilsina met with Nepali students at the Student Union to discuss their experiences, challenges, and needs. The interaction created an open platform to address issues related to Nepali students studying and living in the UK, including their rights and overall well-being.

Students highlighted the need for more internship opportunities, practical exposure, and stronger support systems to help them transition into the professional world.
The discussion was led by Engineer Kamal Upadhya and Aashish Pandey, who facilitated conversations around student experiences, adaptation challenges, and career opportunities. The University of East London also highlighted the need for greater support from the Nepal Embassy, while parent organisations stressed that families back home must play a more active role in supporting students for a smoother transition and overall experience in the UK.
Engineer Nobel Pokharel also shared his perspectives on the future of Nepali students, emphasising the importance of professional development and building globally competitive skills.
Commitment to the Nepali Community
The participating organisations reaffirmed their commitment to understanding the needs of Nepali students and recent graduates in the UK and to working towards making their experience more supportive and accessible.
The event concluded with appreciation for all those involved in organising and supporting the programme, underlining the importance of continued dialogue between professionals and students in strengthening the Nepali community abroad.
