London, 11 November 2025
The Universal Peace Federation UK, in collaboration with the International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace (IAACP), hosted Leading Through Stories: Creativity and Culture for Global Impact — an inspiring evening celebrating the power of creativity, storytelling, and culture in shaping leadership and fostering global understanding.

Held at the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) headquarters in Lancaster Gate, London, the event brought together writers, artists, and peace advocates from across disciplines to explore how stories and the arts can be used as tools for empathy, connection, and positive change.

The evening opened with reflections from Robin Marsh, Secretary General of UPF UK, Margaret Ali, Director of UPF UK, and Dr. Sangita Swechcha, Chair of IAACP at UPF UK, who welcomed guests and highlighted the transformative role of creativity in building peace.

In her address, Dr. Swechcha said:
“Art and culture are not just expressions of beauty — they are expressions of humanity. They allow us to listen more deeply, to see beyond borders, and to imagine the world not as it is, but as it could be.”

She went on to remind the audience that “stories hold a quiet kind of power. Each one told tonight has the potential to open hearts, shift perspectives, and bring people closer together.”

The programme featured a vibrant South Indian cultural performance, coordinated by Nila, which included traditional dance and song — a vivid celebration of artistic tradition and the harmony that creativity can inspire.
Distinguished speakers Novelist Rasheda Ashanti Malcolm and Author and TV Host Dr. Jacalyn Kerbeck delivered keynote talks that explored the power of storytelling to amplify voices, nurture authenticity, and inspire social change.

A lively panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Sangita Swechcha, followed the keynotes — delving into the theme “Creativity, Leadership, and Social Impact Across Cultures.” The discussion encouraged reflection on how art, listening, and narrative can drive global impact and foster shared understanding in divided times.

The evening concluded with closing reflections from Ian Pelham Turner, international TV broadcaster and Patron of UPF UK, who emphasised the importance of media and culture in promoting peace.
