Hampshire Hoopers Win Title of Fourth A Star Nepali Basketball League 2025 in London

London- Hampshire Hoopers have claimed the title of the Fourth A Star Nepali Basketball League 2025, held in London.

In the final match held at the Brunel University Sports Centre on Saturday, 5 July, under the organisation of Nepali Basketball UK, Hampshire Hoopers defeated Greenford Knights to secure the championship.

Hampshire Hoopers became the champions with 78 points, while Greenford Knights scored 74 points. The winning team received £1,200 cash, a trophy, t-shirts, and 10 tickets to the BIFEST festival.

The league, which saw participation from 11 teams, began on 16 March 2025.

According to Ankit Chhetri, Head of Public Relations at Nepali Basketball UK, an exhibition match played on the same day in the women’s category saw Women Ballers Club defeat Net Ninjaz. The winning team received a gift hamper from Wuka Wear by Ruby Raut.

An exhibition match was also held between former basketball players. In the match between teams led by John Rai and Mannu Rai, John Rai’s team emerged victorious. All players received basketball socks as gifts from Ball Driven.

In the tournament, the League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), Ravi Rai from Colchester Elites, received basketball shoes and a ticket to the Nepathya concert. Ayush Gurung from Ballers Slammers was named Young Player of the Year, Sarthak Gurung from Greenford Knights was awarded Coach of the Year, and Nicola from Greenford Knights received the Defensive Player of the Year title. They were presented with trophies.

The Final MVP won two tickets to the Nepathya concert scheduled for 9 August, organised by BSK Entertainment, and one ticket to the Loud Out Music Festival taking place on 30 August.

The League MVP received one ticket to Loud Out and a pair of basketball shoes, according to the organisers.


Guests present at the event included Councillor Bishnu Gurung, English Open Martial Arts Championship gold medallist Sarina Ghale, Bikash Nepal (Nepal Foods), Santosh Rai (Nepal Run), Milan Thapa (Miss Magar Nepal 2022), among others.

The league’s title sponsor was A Star Financial Solutions UK, with additional sponsorship from Nepalese Centre Hayes, Nepal Foods, Namaste Gorkha, BSK Entertainment, Ball Driven, and 4rce Creative (Force Creative).

Participants remarked that the league has further strengthened unity among Nepali players in the UK and promoted the development of basketball.

The final match was hosted by Srijana Gurung, with DJ Czan performing. Entertainment was provided by John & The Locals and SHREEGO & B2.
