BNCC Hosts Summer Soirée at Nepal Embassy to Boost UK–Nepal Trade and Investment

London, 3 2025 — The Britain Nepal Chamber of Commerce (BNCC) hosted a vibrant Summer Soirée at the Embassy of Nepal in London, bringing together distinguished diplomats, business leaders, and investors from both the United Kingdom and Nepal to celebrate and strengthen bilateral economic ties.
The event was held on the eve of the Nepal–UK Tech Forum 2025, a major bilateral initiative organised by the Embassy of Nepal to promote digital innovation, investment, and cross-border collaboration in the tech sector.
The soirée was attended by a high-profile delegation, including UK Ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn, Nepal’s Ambassador to the UK Chandra Kumar Ghimire, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Investment Board of Nepal CEO Sushil Gyawali, IME Group Co-Founder and Managing Director Hem Raj Dhakal, and BNCC CEO Steve Buckley, alongside prominent business figures from both nations.
A Renewed Commitment to Partnership
In his address, Ambassador Rob Fenn reaffirmed the UK Government’s continued commitment to Nepal’s development through various aid schemes. He emphasised that “this is a good time to invest in Nepal”, citing ongoing discussions around a Double Taxation Agreement (DTA), which he hopes will be finalised during his tenure.
Ambassador Chandra Kumar Ghimire reflected on the over 200 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the UK, acknowledging the deep historical and cultural ties. He also pointed out the need to improve bilateral trade, which remains modest, and thanked BNCC for organising the event to foster dialogue and collaboration.
Investment Opportunities in Nepal
FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal delivered a compelling keynote, highlighting Nepal’s vast investment potential in sectors such as tourism, hydropower, clean energy, and technology—including data centres and cybersecurity. He emphasised FNCCI’s role in facilitating foreign investment and creating a stable business environment.
Sushil Gyawali, CEO of the Investment Board of Nepal, provided insights into the Board’s current framework and its role in supporting foreign investors. He outlined the streamlined processes and institutional support available to those looking to invest in Nepal’s growing economy.
A Celebration of Culture and Collaboration
The soirée was hosted by BNCC Vice Chairman Biraj Bhatta, with a Sanskrit grace performed by BNCC member Krishna Bhatta, and a Loyal Toast led by Vice Chairman and Treasurer Indra Giri. The evening featured networking opportunities, reinforcing the spirit of friendship and cooperation.
Dr Kapil Rijal, Chairman of BNCC and a successful entrepreneur and creative professional, delivered a heartfelt message of thanks to all attendees. He emphasised BNCC’s mission to promote bilateral trade and investment, and its role as a facilitator of business connections between the UK and Nepal.
“BNCC is more than a chamber—it’s a bridge,” said Dr Rijal. “We help investors navigate opportunities, connect with the right partners, and understand the business landscape in both countries. Through seminars, trade delegations, and networking events like this, we create platforms where ideas turn into action.”
