Nepal’s Ambassador Presents Credentials to King Charles III at Buckingham Palace

London, United Kingdom — His Excellency Mr Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Nepal’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United Kingdom, formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Charles III during a ceremonial event at Buckingham Palace today. The occasion marked the official commencement of Ambassador Ghimire’s diplomatic tenure in the UK.
During a subsequent audience with the King, Ambassador Ghimire conveyed heartfelt greetings from Nepal’s President, the Right Honourable Mr Ram Chandra Paudel, and Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Mr K.P. Sharma Oli. He extended their wishes for His Majesty’s personal well-being and the enduring prosperity of the British people.
King Charles III warmly congratulated Ambassador Ghimire on his appointment and reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Nepal. Reflecting on the two nations’ 209-year diplomatic relationship, established in 1816, the King acknowledged Nepal’s developmental priorities and expressed support for its progress. He also fondly recalled his multiple visits to Nepal, underscoring his personal connection to the Himalayan nation.
Ambassador Ghimire emphasised the “unwavering friendship” between Nepal and the UK, spanning over two centuries, and expressed gratitude for the UK’s sustained assistance in Nepal’s socio-economic development initiatives. He reiterated Nepal’s dedication to deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Sarita Neupane Ghimire, and senior embassy officials, the Ambassador participated in the traditional credentials ceremony. To celebrate the occasion, the Embassy of Nepal will host a vin d’honneur reception tomorrow evening at its premises in London.
Mr Ghimire, the 23rd Nepali envoy to the UK since Nepal established its legation in London in 1934, brings extensive diplomatic experience to his role. His appointment underscores the continued importance of Nepal-UK relations, which have flourished through shared historical ties and cooperative partnerships.
