Dayanedhi Sapkota and Oggi Restaurant team donate Rs 555,000 to Nepal Flood Relief

London: The owner of Leicester-based Oggi Italian Restaurant, Dayanedhi Sapkota, and team have donated Rs 555,555 towards relief and rescue efforts for victims of the Bhotekoshi floods in Nepal.

The donation has been made to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for disaster management and immediate rescue and relief operations.

The contribution was jointly raised by the management teams and employees of all three branches operated by Oggi Limited — Oggi Simply Italian, Bistro Oggi and Oggi Kibworth. Of the total amount, Sapkota personally contributed Rs 255,555.

The Oggi Limited had once again continued its social responsibility towards Nepal by standing with communities affected by disasters and difficult circumstances, said Sapkota.

“Oggi Limited has always stood together with Nepal during natural disasters and difficult times in the past, and we are continuing this social responsibility towards our country. We sincerely thank the members of our management teams and all our employees who have contributed to and shown solidarity with this campaign,” he added.

The Oggi Restaurant family also expressed deep sorrow over the devastating loss of lives and property caused by the recent floods and landslides in Nepal and the extremely difficult situation facing affected communities.

“At a time when our country is mourning and our brothers and sisters are going through an extremely difficult situation, we express our full solidarity with them and stand together to help ease their suffering,” said Sapkota, who is also known for his community and charitable work.

Sapkota is the founding president of Bihunkot Help Network UK and has previously provided financial assistance to Nepal during the devastating earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic.

He has been involved in community and social work in the Midlands region of the UK for more than two decades and is active in various social organisations as well as the Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) movement.

The donation comes as communities in Nepal continue to face the consequences of devastating Rasuwa floods, with humanitarian organisations and the Nepali diaspora mobilising support for rescue, relief and recovery efforts.
