Whispers in the Mountain Cover Unveiled at INLS Conference in Colorado

Colorado, USA — The cover of Whispers in the Mountain: Selected Stories from Nepal was officially unveiled during the International Nepali Literary Conference in Colorado, held from 23–25 May 2026, marking an important milestone for the forthcoming anthology of translated Nepali short stories.

The book cover was formally launched by distinguished literary figures of Nepal, including Sarbagya Wagle, Mohan Sitaula, Dr Naba Raj Lamsal, Mahesh Poudyal, and Dr Sangita Swechcha.

The book, selected and translated by Jayant Sharma and edited by Dr Sangita Swechcha, brings together thirty stories from contemporary Nepali literature that explore themes of identity, migration, social change, memory, and resilience.
The cover launch attracted the attention of writers, scholars, and literary enthusiasts attending the conference, offering a first glimpse of the anthology ahead of its publication.

The unveiling highlighted ongoing efforts to introduce Nepali literary voices to a wider international readership through translation.
Dr Sangita Swechcha described the unveiling as a significant step in the book’s journey. “This anthology represents diverse voices and experiences from Nepal. Launching the cover at an international literary gathering is especially meaningful because it symbolises our commitment to taking Nepali stories beyond borders and into global literary conversations.”

Whispers in the Mountain: Selected Stories from Nepal, being published by Book Hill in Nepal and by Book Hill International in the UK, is expected to offer readers a rich collection of narratives that illuminate the lives, struggles, and aspirations of ordinary people, showcasing the depth and diversity of contemporary Nepali storytelling.
