SONE UK members visit HS2 Euston Station redevelopment project site

London- The Society of Nepalese Engineers (SONE) UK Continuous Professional Development (CPD) & Training Sub-committee organized an educational site visit to HS2 Euston Station to learn about the redevelopment of Euston Station project on Friday, 12-June-2026, offering young aspiring engineers a unique opportunity to experience one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure developments firsthand.
During the visit, participants explored the advanced machinery, engineering techniques, and construction processes involved in delivering a major transport project. The experience provided valuable insight into how real-world construction methods compare with concepts learned in classrooms and textbooks. It was fascinating to witness the progress of the tunnelling works and gain insight into the design and development of Euston Station.
Attendees gained a deeper understanding of planning, coordination and implementation of the mega infrastructure projects. The visit also highlighted the role of innovation and sustainability in modern infrastructure. Participants witnessed how large-scale transport projects are designed to create smarter, faster, and more efficient transport networks while addressing environmental and societal needs.

SONEUK has thanked Andy Walker for providing in-depth and informative presentation and site walkthrough thus helping the attendees develop a deeper understanding of the project, including the excavation and tunnelling activities within the Euston.
Mr Walker provided a comprehensive overview of the project, including deep piling works, retaining walls, risk mitigation techniques and temporary structures within the Euston approaches. The session highlighted the scale, complexity, and innovation required to deliver major national infrastructure.
Er Khim Thapa co-ordinatinated and organised the site visit for the young SONEUK members providing them a valuable learning opportunity, motivating the next generation of engineers by connecting academic knowledge with practical industry experience.
The event was facilitated by Srijana Khadka, Executive Committee Member, SONEUK.
