Book Review: Stop Giving Away Your Value by Dr Jacalyn Kerbeck

नेपाली लिङ्क जुन ३, २०२६

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to meet Dr Jacalyn Kerbeck at the International Nepali Literary Conference in Colorado. Following our meeting, I had the pleasure of reading her inspiring book, Stop Giving Away Your Value. This book is truly powerful, meaningful, and full of valuable life lessons. From the very first chapter to the final page, every part of the book was engaging, motivating, and deeply thought-provoking. Reading this book gave me not only knowledge but also the confidence and encouragement to value myself more in both life and work.

The title of the book itself carries a strong and meaningful message. Many people in today’s world work extremely hard, help others continuously, and sacrifice their own peace and energy, yet they often forget to recognise their own value. Dr Jacalyn Kerbeck explains this reality in a very honest and practical way. She teaches readers that respecting ourselves and establishing healthy boundaries are essential for a successful and peaceful life.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this book is its simple yet powerful writing style. The author uses clear and accessible language that resonates with the reader. Every chapter contains important lessons about self-respect, confidence, professionalism, and emotional strength. While reading the book, I felt as though the author was personally guiding and encouraging readers to become stronger and wiser in their everyday lives.
The book particularly speaks to professionals, leaders, hardworking individuals, and those who often feel emotionally exhausted because they give too much of themselves to others. Dr Jacalyn Kerbeck explains how intelligent and capable people sometimes undervalue their own work, overexplain their decisions, and tolerate disrespectful behaviour. Through this book, she encourages readers to stop accepting less than they deserve and to confidently protect their time, talent, and energy.

Another wonderful aspect of this book is that it is not solely about business or money. It is also about dignity, personal growth, emotional balance, and self-awareness. The author beautifully explains that true respect begins within ourselves. When people understand their own worth, they naturally become more confident, disciplined, and successful in life. This message is both inspiring and valuable for readers of all ages and professions.

Every chapter of the book carries deep meaning and practical wisdom. I personally enjoyed studying each chapter because it was not only educational but also emotionally motivating. The examples, explanations, and guidance shared by the author felt realistic and relatable. The book inspires readers to reflect carefully on how they treat themselves and how they allow others to treat them.

One idea from the book that deeply touched me is the statement, “Respect is not requested. It is designed.” This powerful message beautifully captures the essence of the book. Respect comes when people establish clear standards, healthy boundaries, and confidence within themselves. This lesson is truly inspiring and unforgettable.
Dr Jacalyn Kerbeck deserves great appreciation for writing such a thoughtful and empowering book. Her knowledge, experience, and wisdom are clearly reflected throughout its pages. She has written this book in a way that motivates readers to become stronger both personally and professionally. It is a book that encourages positive change and inspires readers to recognise their true value.

Overall, Stop Giving Away Your Value is an outstanding and life-changing book. It is filled with wisdom, encouragement, and practical guidance for modern life. I thoroughly enjoyed studying this book, and I believe many people can benefit greatly from reading it. Every chapter was meaningful, engaging, and inspiring. I sincerely thank Dr Jacalyn Kerbeck for sharing such an excellent book with readers around the world.
